Man[goes] to Government (Puzzle Paragraph 1)

The extents of eminent domain are very controversial. Though, they have been mentioned in the US Constitution, the profiling is very ambiguous: "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." The whole policy, in itself, is not outrageous. It could in fact be beneficial. For example, fire stations need to be placed in a certain range to effective. However, the ambiguity of the eminent domain constraints have been misused by the government in the pursuit of corporatism, backstabbing the people. It has allowed big businesses cheap property with almost no liability. The government makes some verisimilitude of "public use" with promises of economic growth against the citizens' worry over the destruction of schools and numerous homes, like in the case of Detroit in 1981. While others might say that the condemnation of land for economic growth is a form of "public use," private land is "PRIVATE." Private firms have no liability to continue operating, and this has happened in many situations: Pfizer in New London, Chevrolet in Detroit, etc. A casino brings brings pleasure to the community reducing stress, so that is also of public property. NO! Property for "public use" is controlled by the government, and so such should be the case with property on the condemned land, or firm should be in the grip of the government. For instance, public utility companies are natural monopolies that earn most of their revenue through the government (taxes). I am not saying we should start marching on government offices with sticks and knives, nor am I saying that we should carry out Gandhi-like protests. We should also not each act like a Lone Ranger, targeting each and every small case where eminent domain was utilized unfairly. But, instead, the it should be dealt nationally. "Public use" and "proper compensation" need to be defined free of the Constitution's ambiguity.

Man[goes] to Path

I just wanted to visited Asagai's ideology on how reality flow in the linear path as compared to Beneatha's circular path.

To begin with I would to like to say that I believe that path for humanity is a spiral while that of the environment ( Universe - humanity = Environment ) is of an opposing spiral. It is like that of DNA. But this DNA like structure will only exist during the time period of human existence, since it is from our perspective.

I think this is why people think that the same event just repeats itself while it is in reality it is similar, but skewed in some ways. If there are 2 really similar events, then I think that if a line connects these 2 points in the spiral history, then this line would be "parallel" to whole flow of the double spiral of the universe.

The individual spirals need not to be the same size. It seems to have take a longer time in past to complete one circular spiral or in physics' terms, a longer period. I think these spirals have condensed to have shorter periods, mostly due to faster development and increased experience. But this period has probably not been decreased a lot since otherwise the period of Environmental spiral would also have to decrease its period of the spirals. However, while humanity has heavily effected the Earthly environment, it has only affected a minute portion of the spacial environment.

For example, the 2 World Wars seem to be comparable to the Napoleonic Wars more than each other, because we see political unrest in the time period between the 2 World Wars and also during the Napoleonic Wars. Both collections were also followed by a sort "Cold Wars" in their own way.

But now that I am spending more time thinking about this complex double spiral system of flow of universe, I feel like there are certain topics that developing (shorter period) than others.
Technology > Human Equality

So wait does this mean that the Human spiral path is composed of smaller spirals that average out to be the bigger spiral and this also applies to the Environmental spiral path.

I feel like I am being idiotic right now or too big brain. OOOOOF!
I mean at least I won't be made fun of by many people since I only get like 3 views.

[Man]goes to Brain

Comparing and contrasting. Something many of us do every single day. Be it while writing essays, showering, sleeping, writing this blog right now, etc. We compare and contrast the choices we have to pick from. And we wondering about choices we could have made. There so many memes about wondering in the shower about an argument, life choices, or something stupid that was said.

I am writing about this because I couldn't decide what to write for my blog and I was having a mental breakdown. I feel like it all started in 7th grade when I came. Now, I have ended up no one to talk toabout my worries and having to beg my parents to let me sleep on my problems.

The surprising thing is that I almost always get solutions to the hardest of my problems when I sleep or take a nap on it. I literally take naps during math contests. There is this on Russian math contest, TOT, where I used to just sleep for 2 hours out of the 4 (it worked).

One of the most important characteristics of being an excellent leader is being able to "compare and contrast" effectively. Effectively also means that the leader has confidence in his decisions. It reminds of AP Bio tests and quizzes, where there are multiple answers that could be right. It is about the "comparing and contrasting" and knowledge.

A good example of this can be seen during World War II. The Germans had lower resources than their opponents. So, strategies played a large role in the war to come. During the 1930s, there heavy debate between executives and researchers of the Luftwaffe. Should pursue the development of high altitude strategic bombers (& fighter, I think) or dive bombers. Many were in favor of the dive bombers (like the Junkers Ju 87). This supported their cause in the early war when their enemies were unprepared and the Blitzkrieg was heavily due to these dive bombers. However, later, when fighting the Russians and the British, the Germans were stuck in a longer war. The dive bombers were slow and vulnerable during their dives. The Germans didn't have sufficient and adequate bombers to affect the enemies' production. Meanwhile, the German cities and factories were getting pummeled. The Germans didn't have many high altitude fighters either. Hitler, especially, was very vivid in terms of his "tide turning" weapons.
If Germans had been a bit more practical, then maybe the would have "won". I don't mean to say that the Germans wasted resources elsewhere and were impractical, like the concentration camps, usage of slaves, and mistreatment of the citizens of their conquered states. Many of citizens of the states that were conquered from the Soviets initially saw the Nazis as liberators. They could have supplied the Germans with more resources and manpower. It would have also increased morale.

Man[goes] to Disparity

I have spent 1 1/2 days trying to get ideas for my blog, but I struck out. So, I will be talking about that is pretty prominent in The Great Gatsby, the disparity of a person's "wealth."

The novel shows that the disparity in wealth not only affects how well off one is but also their behaviour.  We see Daisy and Tom flaunting their wealth and being arrogant. But, this wealth also drives their decisions on relationships, marital, in Daisy's case. On the other hand, Gatsby who was just the son of a poor farmer, thought he could attain everything with wealth. While he could attain his massive house and exquisite clothes, he could never attain love. Meanwhile, Nick is in neither of the extremes and just wants to be able to live pretty well off while focuses on a person's intentions, and so on.

Going on about being materialistic, Myrtel cheats on her husband mostly because of Tom's wealth. As mentioned in one of the analysis packets, we also see that she is more sexually aggressive than the wealthier women. Apparently, drive for wealth heightens all modes of comprise in sense. Myrtel gives her body to Tom in exchange for his money.

My opinion, for instance, is that this is actually true. We see people who through their life out to get wealth. We see people suing other to gain their wealth. It has actually become a habit for doctors to convert their money "wealth" into material possessions so that when do get sued, they declare bankruptcy, and their insurance pays the money for them. It is important to not let money drive your emotions and actions. Kind of hypocritical coming from me, because when I research careers, I give quite a bit of importance to the salary. But I have realised that things that give the most money or the most fame are not always the most appeasing.

Man[goes] to Individual's Realm

I am writing this because of something that happened this weekend.
We criticize warfare, murder, assassination, rape, and violence, in general.
But, what about mental violence and abuse. Many people think its the solution to mean comments and rumours is to just avoiding and not caring about them. Like what the f***, man? It's not that easy. Why don't you go through once huh. Get most of your school social life ruined by only a couple of spiteful b******.
Like one gets used to it. You get surprised when somebody says something good about you or is nice to you. Then you start being pessimistic:

Is the person trying to put up a fake front? Is he/she trying to take advantage of me (no Elliot, non that's not what I meant)? A twisted prank? Is he/she doing to look good in front of others? Ahhhhhh, f*** life!

And, the severity also depends on the pre-determined mental differences. It's hard to imagine how a person with really, really severe anxiety that often comes from severe ADHD would deal with this. You get stuck in this mental state (like Gatsby).
You thought that was it, didn't you! Oh no, no, no! There's more. There's then people who look at the people who are affected by this sadness and just think "Look at the sad prick. Why is he so negative?"

I was just listening to Logic's new song OCD (not that good) and the last line was "social media may cause depression" and it's so true. Life is all mental. You see people with no limbs achieving what is thought to be impossible. Finally reached over 250 words.

Anyway, life is all mental. The decisions from the representatives of the masses cause the countries activities. The mental war between these representatives cause international tensions and sanctions. Knowledge is one of the things that leads to power. It is not power. This is why languages are important. To convey your opinions, fueled by your opinions.

Man[goes] to Song of Solomon

In the spirit of Halloween, this blog will be written from the perspective of Hagar's ghost.
I would like to talk about the ending since it was kind of confusing for me. I actually thought that there was going to be a fist fight between Guitar and Milkman. Like Milkman leaps to run towards Guitar and Guitar lays his gun down.

----------------------------------------------

Yes, jump off Milkman. Then, we can be together as ghosts. You will be mine. Muhahahaha!

No. don't fly. No, please no. Don't fly Milkman! No, take me with. Oh wait I can fly. But wait, why is he not paying attention to me. Am I not beautiful enough. Milkman look at me. Please look at me!

----------------------------------------------

She would probably forget that she was a ghost since she would be overwhelmed by her parasitic love for Milkman. Yeah, that's the right word. Parasitic. She is a parasite. She cannot live without Milkman's attention. Kind of ironic, how she is a ghost and is parasitic, and she doesn't have Milkman's attention.

----------------------------------------------

Look at me Milkman! Please! Please... please.. plz (Starts crying)

----------------------------------------------

I feel like that would the rest of the journey. Milkman doesn't really acknowledge Hagar or her death. He straight up yeeted the thoughts of comforting her that he developed earlier in the woods when he decided to tell Pilate that she was carrying her dad's bones. Like Milkman has a carefree heart even if it is sort of mocking Hagar's broken heard.

Saying "kaputt" (means broken) to describe anything is kind of like a joke in our German class, or it was in earlier levels. Broken heart. I mean like a heart can't break right. It should be more of like ripped because that's what it feels (heh it doesn't have to love, like I haven't experienced love).

Man[goes] to Airport?

Have you ever thought about spending most of your life flying, like Milkman did to Philly? No, not as a pilot, but as a passenger. Me? No. I feel like it would just be a loophole, even if I would be flying first class on all my flights. Irrespective of the class of the seat, I would still feel somewhat tired. Then that would cause me to sleep more. Then I would be tired and so on. Don't even mention the time zones! Oh and the food. And also my health. I would become like Baymax from Big Hero 6 but just brown.

Anyway, there are actually people who do this. Check out this article: Up in the Air . . .
They amass massive amounts of membership points that they then spend on first class seats. They often find cheap flights or loopholes. There are a variety of "loopholes" that they use, though, they are legal. Some of these are mentioned in the article. These people often side jobs, like travel agencies. They use the money from these jobs to buy the cheap flight tickets, or buy coins using an airline credit card. They then sell the coins back, thus not wasting money and amassing membership points. These "hacks" are often shared among such enthusiasts in group chats. Oh, yeah I forgot to mention that it is important to pick a major airline.

I just realised while typing this blog that these people have a heightened chance of dying due to a plane crash (hmm... dark). Also, I might actually do what I just said I wouldn't do. I forgot about the lounges at the airport. Man! Some airports even let you have room if there is a big hangover time.

Anyway that's it. Here some airport scenery:

Man[goes] to WW2

We often remember the ending of WW2 as the courageous, justice-seeking, righteous American & British forces fighting off the racist, fascist, cruel Nazis, Italians, & Japanese forces.

However, in the European theatre, we mostly never give attention to the Nazis' self-made "blunders" that caused their defeat. For example, the delay of Operation Barbarossa. It was partly caused by Hitler's fears of facing the USSR. The psychological war between Hitler and Stalin was very important and is very interesting to read about. It was clouded by each others prejudices and fears. Both of them were scared of each other. This fear caused hesitation like did Hagar's love for Milkman in Song of Solomon.

Hitler was right. Winners do get to define everything, huh? It is ironic how he was the one who dreamt, but it was the enemy that succeeded.

Now, let's go back to some of the "blunders."
Many say that Hitler not being able to convince Turkey and Spain to join the Axis was a pretty devastating. However, Turkey was a new country with little or no previous interaction with the Nazis. Spain, on the other hand, was a bit of a different story. There was a recent civil and Germany had helped Francisco Franco win the war. So, they should have been able to convince him to join. There were some fears for Franco, of course. He was a new leader and the country had low resources and forces. However, the big player was head of German intelligence, who believed that Germany could not win a two front war. So he persuaded Franco to make absurd demands to Hitler that Hitler would definitely refuse.

If Spain had joined the Axis powers, they could have punctured Britain's main artery, via Gibraltar : the supplies that came from its African and Asian colonies - especially, India. It would have even made it really hard for Britain to supply the war in Africa, Hitler's soft underbelly.

Unity was a big "blunder" in the Nazi regime. Hitler, himself, could be considered a big blunder. He had many diseases and took many drugs to fight them. This often deluded him.

Man[goes] to Ukraine

Famine - an extreme scarcity of food (Merriam - Webster)
Artificial famine - intentional famine by humans (I think)
The Holodomor -  Artificial famine in Ukraine by the USSR
People easily talk about the Holocaust, but they never talk about all the other human "exterminations" that have been carried out:
i) Mongol conquest of Western Xia (Half of pop. of Western Xia was killed - 1,500,000)
ii) Cambodian Genocide (1,500,000 - 3,000,000 killed)
iii) Indonesian Genocide (500,000 - 3,000,000 killed)
iv) The Holodomor (1,800,000 - 7,000,000 killed)

Let's briefly talk about the Holodomor.
The harvest of 1932 only procured 4.3 million tons compared to the previous year's 7.2 million tons. Rations in Ukraine were heavily cutback and food was "collected" from the peasants to be put in the government depots. Most of the harvest was sent to Russia.

Peasants were the first to be heavily affected.
The urban population was shown agitprop movies, which showed the peasants hiding food and keeping it for themselves. Then came the very restrictive rations in the urban areas.
People, literally, starved to their death.

(↑)Map of the Depopulation of Ukraine & Southern Russia.
Territories in white were not part of the USSR.

(↑) Wikipedia

"Survival was a moral as well as a physical struggle. A woman doctor wrote to a friend in June 1933 that she had not yet become a cannibal, but was "not sure that I shall not be one by the time my letter reaches you." The good people died first. Those who refused to steal or to prostitute themselves died. Those who gave food to others died. Those who refused to eat corpses died. Those who refused to kill their fellow man died. Parents who resisted cannibalism died before their children did." (Margolis)

This shows how something can often overshadowed by something else. When we talk about world records, we don't really care about the 2nd or the 3rd or so on. We need to value these more than we are right now. We only care about what happened in the end. Colleges don't care why you don't have a 4.0 GPA. It sucks! Maybe a family tragedy happened. Maybe your parents got divorced. We only care about the end result because humane qualities limit or are harmful to us like in our extra credit assignment.
We need to give more value to humane qualities.

Man[goes] to Auschwitz

I guess I have to go away from my usual blog style. And I seriously do not want to analyze series of panels from a comic.
(IT'S STILL BETTER THAN WRITING AN ESSAY!)
Most of us can relate to this feeling:

Image result for hmm yes meme text is made of text

BUT, don't get me wrong. Maus is a very interesting book (Hats Off to the author).
Anyway, let's analyze the following panels:

This series of panels is from pg 49 of the 2nd volume of ↑ Maus.

First I would like to point out the skinny dead bodies right here.
This is part of the motif of dead bodies we have seen throughout the book. However, in MOST panels with death, there has a been some sort of a repulsive response. On the contrary, here, the prisoners aren't weeping or horrified. Instead, they show no emotion and carry on about their business. It shows the growth and effects of all the events that have preceded this on the people.

Many times during the course of the volumes, I have seen that Spiegelman only included the outline of Vladek and himself. I noticed that this happens when there is an interruption to the past, but the conversation between Vladek and Art in the present is just adding additional detail. I also noticed that Art's drawings of the present are neater those of the past. So, I thought that by only including the outline of Vladek and himself, Art is trying to continue the flow of the past, taking away attention from the present figures. In general, the past is drawn darker (I think).

I also noticed something about the rat on pg 147 of the 1st Volume of Maus.

The rat seems to be bending its tail so the light from the present doesn't hit it. It is like the mice (Jews) in the book that trying their best to hid and not be found. It's like they are hiding in the dark from the darkness of the Nazi Regime. But a part of the rat's tail's shadow falls on the light side. This kind of represents how even a lit wrong step could mean being found / death for the mice / Jews.

This could have all been intended by Art Spiegelman or maybe I am just overstretching connections.

Man[goes] to Germany

Heute besuchen wir Deutschland. Wunderbar!
(German for: Today we visit Germany. Wonderful!)

Why don't we start off with a meme (Ich habe es selbst gemacht.)

.

.

.

.

.

You didn't see that coming did you! Did you!
Such a clear depiction of the Nazi regime.

However, this week's post is dedicated not related to persecution of the Jews nor the war itself, but the destruction of non-German and anti-Nazi books.

You can check out the specific details of the books that the Nazis burned (according to the Nazis) in sites like Wikipedia.

More than the Nazis, it was the students of more than 400 universities that burned around 25,000 volumes in the square at the State Opera, Berlin. If you think about it comparatively, this event is not so bad or at least not the worst. There are lot of restrictions in China, North Korea, and a few other nations. The Soviets placed more restrictions and burned books.

But I will say Hitler was a sort of hypocrite. Some of his favorite books were burned.
Going back to the students, this event really showed that the people would listen to the Nazis. Hitler would actually set many similar tests to see if the people would listen to him. Kinda smart eh! These tests allowed him to gradually increase grip around Germany.

Sometimes I wish I could be in Hitler's position. He had such a good position. And what did he do! Persecute the Jews and destroy a country because of the ideological with Stalin. I will talk about this in a later post. The psychological war between the world leaders in WW2 was a big part that is not often discussed.

Also, Trump should be really careful of what he says. I mean like I don't like him (except for the fact that he is a big meme) or hate him, but seriously!

Ich habe es auch selbst gemacht.

Man[Goes] to Norway

Henry David Thoreau wrote in his essay Civil Disobedience that he is freer (free + er) in jail than outside. So, he'd rather be in jail?

Well, most of us would rather not go into jail or prison right. Especially not PRISON! At least, not with the traditional prisons we see in America. Enter "humane" prisons.

The "humane" prison concept was designed to provide more freedom for the prisoners and a "real world" feel. "Humane" prisons have mostly been implemented in western Europe and Scandinavia. These prisons focus more on rehabilitation than punishment.

The most important aspect of "humane" prisons is the layout. Most prisons are designed with the idea of fitting the most prisoners and easier transport of prisoners. These prisons often come in the "courtyard," "telephone," or "radial" layouts. Meanwhile, "humane" prisons built in the "campus."
This layout separates the different facilities, forcing the inmates to move around. Even the trees inside the prison perimeter are carefully. For example, tall birch trees are planted to distract from the perimeter walls.

Image result for types of prison layouts

Image result for humane prison design

The above layout is of Halden Prison, Norway. No[r]way. No, yes way. It "detains" around 250 individuals, close to its maximum capacity. Most of the ideas that I presented earlier were voiced by the governor of this prison. Even though it is a maximum security prison, its inner guards are unarmed. This facilitates a more communal environment. There are game rooms, communal rooms, etc. The prison has often been criticized for being like a hotel. The prisoners are are even served steaming tall stacks of heart shaped waffles with jam.
(Hopefully it's not mango, because believe me, mango jam does not taste good.)

Image result for halden prison

 Image result for halden prison

I mostly agree with the ideology behind "humane" prisons. These prisons allow prisoners to be released ready for the world. If prisoners continue to be violent, they can be moved to other places. However, the implementation of these prisons don't come cheap. The Halden prison cost about $130 million. Also, Norway has a lower proportion of criminals than other countries, about a sixth of the United States.

So, what's your opinion?

Man[goes] to Rwanda

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and your government when it deserves it"

- Mark Twain

But what if "your country" is not really your country. What if somebody else that has no relation to your people or culture created your country? What if the people your culture were separated due to the creation of this country? What if your country is composed of tribes of people who were and are hostile to each other?

Such divisions occurred with much of Africa, British India, and others after the era of colonialism.
We will look at one such example, Rwanda.

Beautiful, right?

But what if you saw it in June of 1994, during the Rwandan Genocide. Warning!

That escalated quickly.
Well, that's real exposure.
 For example, if Charles
Winston, CEO of Tropical
Smoothie Cafe, was exposed
to my type of mangoes, he
would immediately order
all locations start using
Indian mangoes instead of those Costa Rican mangoes, or whatever they use.
My point is that being a mango is scary.
This is the same fear that people living in
countries like Rwanda face, especially if
you are a minority. During the Rwandan
Genocide, between 500,000 to 1,000,000
 people were killed, including children
and babies. The uncertainty in those
numbers itself shows how carelessly
and ruthlessly people were slaughtered
like cattle. About 75% of the Tutsi
 population was killed. The people
targeted were people of the Tutsi
and Twa tribes. The population of
the Tutsi tribe is split between
several countries just like
many other tribes. So, are
 the Tutsis supposed to
feel patriotism for
 a country that
 is not theirs
 and has

 jeopardized

                                   their

existence?

These conflicts have appeared everywhere in the world:

 Su       dan
So      uth             S   uda    n

Sy                    ria
I       ra           q
Cen            tral     A       fric            an         Re        pub           lic

This kind of proves the saying "Survival of the fittest"
The conflicts in Africa started with the colonialism of Africa. However, the division of continent without regard to the culture and voices of the people residing there was outrageous. Now we must help those countries gain stability.

Man[goes] to Switzerland

Let us take a small quiz. Which of the following statements are false?
i)   All 50 states of America have memorials from bot World Wars.
ii)  I am a human.
iii) Switzerland has memorials dedicated to both World Wars.
iv) Donald Trump is our current president.
v)  The iPhone 11's camera is going to ugly.

So, which is false?
 .
 .
 .
It was a trick question. All of them are true.

Yes, yes, Switzerland does have memorials, like the "the Cenotaph" in London, of both World Wars. It mobilized its military during both wars, though more considerably during the second.

At the start of the first World War, the Swiss had mobilized a force of 220,000 men under the newly appointed commander Ulrich Wille. Their main purpose was to defend the borders, especially from stray foreign units and trenches. This war lasted from July, 1914 to November, 1918. During the course of the war, the Swiss Army slowly demobilized with some increases in number due to various fears.

There were about 3000 Swiss casualties, two thirds of them succumbing to the Spanish Flu. However, the others were killed by conflicts due to misunderstandings,
stray fire, biplane crashes, etc.

If you think Switzerland mobilizing 220,000 men during World War 1, when its population was 3.5 million, without entering the war is a big deal, then what about World War 2. It mobilized a peak of 880,000 soldiers, including women, during World War 2, due to the fear of invasion from Nazi Germany. There were many small skirmishes between the course of the war. The Swiss Air Force even shot down 11 German aircraft, ironically, using its German made fighters and anti-aircraft guns. Not only did the Swiss have problems with the Germans, but also the Allies. Allied bombers often "accidentally" bombed parts of Switzerland, resulting in casualties. So, even though the Swiss never fought in both wars, there were still casualties who are remembered today in the form of memorials.

However, Switzerland did make heavy profits during both World Wars. Germany being blockaded by the British forced them to trade with Switzerland.
